stop corporations from trademarking common words and phrases. Things like Buxton (TM) and Where do you want to go today? (TM) - i've now noticed that they've also TM'd all the names in The Lord of the Rings - will this require a re-write of the original books?. How is it that a corporation can own a word? - did Nestlé invent Buxton? did they have a time travelling chief executive who went back and penned the name? will I ever stop asking questions to which there are no answers and incurr the wrath of Martin Steven who'll then no doubt write a letter to the Guardian with lots of rhetorical questions in?. Trademarking words is almost as silly as copyrighting bits of human DNA or selling off parts of the moon and mars. As if any astronauts landing on Mars really give a shit who 'owns' the bit of the planet they're walking on; and niether should residents of Buxton.
